I am absolutely amazed as to how much spin as well as power I have picked up with this paddle! While keeping so much control! I am so happy with this purchase! Great job Thompson you are top notch!!!
First, let me start by saying that I've did a lot of research before purchasing my Thompson paddle. I am an intermediate player who plays multiple days a week. I liked the paddle design, materials and edge. That said, now that I've used the paddle a bit, I'm both impressed and somewhat disappointed. The control and feel of the Twill is excellent! I can put balls just where I want to and the consistency is great! I was expecting a little more 'pop' though. In hindsight, I probably should have purchased the Uni but I didn't think it would make much difference! Wrong choice by me. That said, I'm still satisfied and am happy to support an American-made product.
I enjoyed the paddle greatly and even showed another gentlemen that called and bought a used one from you directly because your backlog is too long. In my case I used it one day and having to return it in 7 days is way too short. I cant make a decision to buy a new $250 plus paddle with using it one and a half days. I didn't enjoy that pressure and didn't convince me to purchase.
I let my 21 year old use my new paddle during our last session and he is typically the one who looks at his paddle based on his poor shot. Just after 2 points that he hit and won he looked at the paddle again and ancknowledged its accuracy. When he finished his game I asked him what he thought. "It's like playing a video game with cheat codes. Even if I don't hit the sweet spot the ball still goes where I want it to." Now he wants one for his birthday. I personally love the paddle and it has become my primary.

I really liked this paddle after playing with it 3 days. It’s naturally heavy enough for me so I don’t need to add any lead tape. I can do pretty much anything at my skill level with this paddle. Thanks for the test kit, Thompson.
I really wanted to love this paddle and support a small, U.S.-made business. Initially, the twill surface had great grip and produced solid spin. Unfortunately, after only a few games, the surface began to smooth out. After a couple of months, the ball now completely slides off the paddle, making it unusable.
I purchased the same paddle for my partner, and they experienced the exact same issue. At this price point, I expect the paddle to last far longer than a few games. I’m happy to support small businesses, but it’s difficult to justify the cost unless this durability issue can be addressed or fixed.
After a week of using both paddles for a week (5-2 hours sessions) I found both paddles to be very predictable and really improved my game at the net. My person favorite was the Uni which was also true for the 4 of my 5 fellow players who also demoed the paddles. Only one preferred the Twill. I felt like using the paddle in warm-ups and early game play made my play better with my primary paddle when I was letting others demo my paddle.

-Very good paddles
-I used mainly the twill as it had a better feel while playing
-Trial period was a bit short
- I will consider a purchase
Thank you for allowing me the use of your paddles. John D
The paddle is decent and it is similar to the CPX Ultra that I have too. The disappointment comes from the fact that it did not have a paddle cover included. And when I reached out to let someone know I received what I think is a poor reason why a cover was not included - cost was the reason. When you pay almost $250 for a paddle, you expect to have a cover! When other players ask me about the paddle I tell them I like the paddle but I thought the company was lame for not including one and people look at me and say “Are you kidding, no cover?” I would suggest that you be clear in your advertising that you mention there is no cover included so folks are aware up front. As for me, since the contact person just offered an explanation and did not offer either a cover or a little refund I will just order another CPX when the time comes to get a new one! You also miss a great advertising opportunity by not having a paddle cover with your name and logo!
Honestly not impressed. Was really hoping for more power and spin. I did not feel either.
I initially purchased the Twill and loved it. Instant confidence with the Twill. I decided to purchase the Uni with the thought of additional power. Once I could try them both back to back, I didn't need the additional "power". The Uni is a great paddle, but I love the Twill. Thompson in general has been fantastic, and their products are first class, professional equipment. I went back to the Twill this morning and the Uni will be my "backup" paddle. I just feel very confident with the Twill in my hand.
For wife but couldn’t wait. She looks it. She’s not that good but tries hard and love this paddle
Towel is very silky won't be very good for drying off. Not really useful, thought I was receiving a cotton towel
Im coming from playing the uni last year, loved that paddle. I also wanted to feel the softer carbon on the twill for my dinking, so far I love it!!! Also it’s a great looking paddle.
I was pumped to be able to try the paddles for a week. I was surprised how fast they arrived, I ended up playing a lot of pickle that week to maximize my playing time.
I’ve been playing with my new Thompson 515 Twill for about a week now. I love the feel of the hexagon grip and the control that I have with the paddle. I’ve just put away my glove that I no longer need with this paddle.
I feel more confident blocking opponent drives at the net. My forehand volleys have a lot more control, as well.
It was between this paddle and the CRBN series, and my demo of the Thompson was easily the deciding factor. If you are on the fence, try their demo program, in which Thompson will send you both the Uni and the Twill for comparison.
Paddles appear to be well-constructed. They both have excellent spin and power. However, they are both head-light which doesn't fit my game. The twill is too heavy (at least for me) to modify it with tungsten tape. I tried to put some tungsten tape on the uni but it wouldn't stick.
My daily driver paddle is a Selkirk luxx. I was looking for something a little more poppy but still had good control. The twill is very good at that. The uni felt too thin and light for my style of play
Haven’t seen many yt reviews on this and it’s a disservice to the innovation that went into this paddle and its overall performance compared to the landscape. I bought the Uni off of someone and absolutely loved it. Response off the face is consistent with its massive sweet spot and power and pop is perfectly tuned to be enough and not too much, with its ability to spin and shape the ball allowing you to place it exactly where you want it to go. Quick in the kitchen but powerful, long and spinny enough in the baseline, a rare combination. This has been my main for a few months now and it’s definitely built to last too. I’ll be buying the Twill soon and letting more people know about them this side of Asia.
Love my new Thompson Twill. Great control and precision. Tons of spin and power when you need it! Great paddle and live that it’s hand made in Boyne City, Michigan! Go Blue!
Great way to test new paddles, with so many choices on the market. I was able to play three times to determine if I liked the paddles and if I preferred one of the available choices. I decided on the Twill model.
