Using these paddles were a bit difficult for me. I am a short but quick player. I actually hit myself because of the length. Had probably something to do the fact that I normally use a shorter paddle. Also, however, crisp the shot was it would take some getting used to, seven days just isn't long enough.
I received the paddles in a reasonable time, then demo both of them and sent them back with the box and instructions provided.
This paddle generated a lot more power without weight than other paddles I needed to weight-up to get deep baseline power without winding up and losing accuracy. Pretty impressed thus.far. I did weight this paddle up to 12 oz. but cant keep the ball on the court. Will reduce to 10oz to see if it gives me ultimate drive without over driving the ball.
I've been suffering from minor arm pain after pickleball for years. Since I've used this paddle, I no longer have arm pain. It took a few days and different configurations, but I finally figured out the grip on the paddle. The grip the paddle comes with is too thin and hard for my liking. I replaced the grip with a new, softer grip and then added an over grip. Now the paddle is much better!
Truly if it wasn't for the ability to demo the paddles, my wife and I would not have know how great these paddles are and how perfect they are for our individual style/level of play as well. We of course bought one of each for us and we couldn't be more happy....a serious game improvement paddle!!
I sent them back on Monday, I wrote my review and included it in the box. 12 different players were able to get a chance to try them.
I started playing pickleball 2 months ago. Since I am a racquet sports player it was easy to adapt to pickleball. The Twill paddle added a tremendous amount of control, spin and accuracy on the court. There is no over hitting and serves are quick and deep into the baseline. Thanks for the demo use. I would recommend the Twill to any advance player looking for a responsive paddle.
Workmanship is second to none. Lots of power and control. Mine weighed in at 8.6, a little heavier than what I was playing with before. Getting used to the weight. Amazing spin off the face.
I really liked both paddles. Big difference from paddles I have owned. My preference was the twill, just felt really good.
I took advantage of the demo offer and wanted to like at least one of these paddles. I really liked the weight and feel of these including the handles. However, I could not control the ball. After a week, I never got a feel for either and am disappointed I was not able to purchase. I am 4.0 and have been playing 4 years.
I was using an original Ben Johns Joola with weights. My forearms were always strained. Changed over to the Thompson Twill and after two hours of hard play, the strain isn't there. Great control at the net. No more dead hits. Charging in to hit on the run is amazing and when I want the power from the baseline it's all there. Other players saw the difference in my play. This paddle has great balance. It took about three games to get used to it and the rest of the night to trust my shots. Now, I'm dropping like never before and opponents are targeting my partner more than me.
I’ve only played with the paddle twice, but I noticed much more control and consistency than my last paddle, and less impact on my elbow and wrist. I’m excited to get more used to it and try the other Thompson paddle as well.
I really appreciate the ability to spin at speed and the lightness. If anything can be changed, I would love to have another 0.5oz lower weight for faster reflex (even if lower power).
Excellent control, right amount of power for me, and in a volley it’s quick! Really impressive workmanship. Pull the trigger and buy you won’t be disappointed!
The paddle felt very well designed and constructed, it was easy to control but it lacked power.
