Fantastic paddle and hands down one of the best edgeless paddles out there! If not, the best!
The model 515 twill is much lighter than my old one. Still trying to get the feel of it.
The quality is excellent and give much more spin on the ball. However, I'm having control issues because of the weight difference. Will update in a couple of weeks.
The Balance point makes a huge difference for me. I think this is due to the unibody construction
I’ve bought several paddles over the last 6 months and I am pleasantly surprised how well I love this paddle. I bought the Uni based off others recommendations for use in doubles play. I can say this paddle does it all and doesn’t break a sweat.
Love the paddle, good amount of power but don’t feel like it lacks in control. Haven’t decided how I feel about the grip yet.
I love my new paddle. I feel like I get maximum power without any loss of touch for the short part of my game. I would recommend this paddle to anybody, even your mom!
This is the first paddle I ever bought with the edgeless guard on it. Love it. Good power and well balanced. Paddle had a lot of pop when you hit the ball. I have bought name brand paddles over the years and this paddle out performs them all. The best thing I like about the paddle is there is no dead spots. Great for resetting and dinking.
With the twill weave carbon fiber exterior it great for spinning the ball. Made right here in Northern Michigan.
I knew this paddle was different immediately after testing it. This is the first edgeless paddle that I've ever hit that has the feel and touch of a control paddle combined with the pop that you'd expect from an edgeless design. After a couple days of practice, I was sold and put the paddle into play immediately at the Beer City Open. The paddle performed to perfection and we took home the Gold!
This is a very good overall paddle. It can reset well, dink, drop, and has good power. It is balanced in weight. I’ve shown it to several people who liked the look of it and were interested in it. I would have liked to test it out first but took a chance on it. I’m going back and forth right now with my ALW Paddletek paddle because the shapes are slightly different but I highly recommend it. If I had to criticize it, I’d like to have had a slightly lighter weight but I really wanted the twill for more control with the crossweave carbon fiber. It has a huge sweetspot with the only dead spot being at the throat of the paddle but that’s where most paddles that shape do have one. Also, I love it’s made in Michigan and all parts are from the USA.
This paddle has a great balance of power and control and it feels great off the bat.
As a relative newcomer to the game, finding a paddle is a daunting task. So many choices and so many to choose from. My husband actually ordered this but found the handle not to his liking so I immediately took it from him. The paddle felt comfortable from the get go and provided great feel and control as well as maneuverability. I can't get to technical but there is no vibration at all and the sweet spot is more than enough for me!
Great spin and sweet spot. Just really feels like a premium paddle. Not a fan of the grip though and would like a 5.5 inch handle.
Very happy with paddle. Paddle surface has great grip for spins. Lots of power, yet can also have control with dinking. Looks good too. I opted for the lighter weight Umi and then added some tungsten weights to get just right for me. Very pleased. Would highly recommend.
I took a chance and ordered one of these based on the concept and brief build video. At the least I thought that I would have a nice looking addition to my paddle collection (I’m a bit of a paddle junkie). The paddle arrived and it looks even better in person than in the pics but how does it play. It plays even better than it looks! Considerably lighter head weight than my Gearbox Pro paddles, absolutely zero twist on off centre hits, good power but not at Gearbox Pro levels and slightly less pop also. More control oriented but still more than enough power with a crisp feel off the face. I haven’t used my Gearbox paddles since this paddle arrived. Made in the USA, outstanding build quality and great playability, what more could I ask for? Highly recommend giving it a try.
I've been using the Thompson model 515 Twill paddle and I am very happy with it. I strongly recommend it. It provides me with solid power, the ability to reset tough shots, and excellent surface grip to shape any shot I want to hit. The balance of this paddle is ideal for enabling me to maintain control while hitting slice shots or speeding up backhand flips.
First of all the is an appealing, classy design. Many people were immediately drawn to the paddle when they saw it. Personally, I have no problem with the grip but others have mentioned they would like a thicker, stickier grip. The power the paddle offers is great. It makes overhead shots smooth with control and power. It did take me a bit to get used to the sweet spot area but after playing with it a few times, it has improved my play. Overall, I love this paddle!
The Thompson 515 outperforms every paddle I’ve ever played. Like most avid pickleballers, I’ve been searching for improvement in paddle performance. I’ve tested all the top models out there and this blows them all away. As a 4.5 player, I can say I’m now 100% certain that I’m playing the best available paddle.
GAME CHANGER… I started out with a Paddletek, graduated to a Joola paddle, and found the Thompson superior in many ways. This paddle offers improved control and feel, giving me better ball placement. I liked the spin and power of my old Joola, but the Thompson offers a little bit more pop and spin. I’ve moved up to the 4.0 + courts and holding my own thanks to the Thompson.
I love my 515 Twill. The carbon surface creates spin that is off the charts. The 515 is very consistent and powerful with a huge sweet spot. The best paddle I’ve ever had in my hand.
Right from the start, when I first held the paddle, it had a well-balanced feel. It did not disappoint on the court. I noticed a significant difference in my control / accuracy and increased hand speed. I have enjoyed my Joola for over a year, but this paddle I feel will take me to the next level.
